Miami Dolphins Football Team guide

If you are a sports fan, a visit to Miami will be incomplete without a trip to one of the Miami Dolphin football games. The Miami Dolphins, a professional American Football team, is one of the oldest professional major league sports franchises in the entire state of Florida. Originally started as an expansion team in the American Football League in 1966, the Dolphins later joined the National Football League as part of the AFL-NFL merger.

While the teams’ first Super Bowl appearance during the 1971 season ended with a loss to the Dallas Cowboys, they came back strongly the following year to win the Super Bowl VII. During the same year they also won all 14 regular season games and two play-off games. With their Super Bowl triumph they are reputed to have completed the only perfect season in the history of the game.

The Dolphins also won Super Bowl VIII becoming only the second team to achieve this Miami Dolphins gamefeat, and their long time coach Don Shula is considered as the most successful head coach in the history of the game. The Dolphins worst season till date was in 2007, when they had a 1-15 win lose record.

The Dolphins are currently part of the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the NFL, and now play all their games in the LandShark Stadium, Miami Gardens. The team was named based on a ‘name the team’ contest, and was inspired by the intelligence and agility of the bottlenose dolphin. The team’s logo comprises of a sunburst along with a leaping dolphin wearing a white helmet with the letter M for Miami in orange, upon it. The cheerleaders for the squad are known as the Miami Dolphin Cheerleaders and the fight song of the team is played every time they score.
