Guide to Miami International Film Festival

Every year, in the month of March film enthusiasts from around the world gear up for the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF). This event has been in existence for almost three decades and is one of the most important film festivals in the world. This prestigious event is hosted by the Miami Dade College and takes place across several locations in Miami.

The film festival annually hosts over 100 films, featuring a number of world premieres and many international movies that are aired for the first time in the US. The organisers of this film festival feature movies from over 40 different countries, with the screenings taking place over 10 days. Most of the screenings take place at the Miami Beach Miami Film FestivalCinematheque, which is the venue for the first five days of the festival. Following this, there is a multimedia exhibition that takes place during the latter half of the festival. This takes place at the New School of the Arts at the ArtSeen Gallery.

Through the years, there have been a number of films that have been hosted at the MIFF. These include many films from emerging filmmakers like Keith A. Beauchamp, Agustín Díaz Yanes, Spike Lee, Alfonso Cuaron and Andy Garcia. There are a number of important distributors who also participate in this festival and they include big names like Sony Pictures Classic, Focus Features, HBO, Miramax and Fox Searchlight.
