Guide to Collins Avenue, Miami
Collins Avenue is one of the oldest roads in the Miami Beach area. Construction on the road was started when Miami Beach was still being developed as a tourist attraction and it was built in an orientation parallel to the beach. Because of this orientation, Collins Road became a popular place to buy houses and residences that overlook the ocean. Collins road is also the main road servicing the Miami Beach area and it is also known by the name State Road A1A.
From South Pointe Drive, travellers can turn into the northern end of Collins Avenue. This point is near notable places like the South Pointe Yacht Club, South Pointe Towers and the Portofino Condominiums. South Pointe Park is also located nearby. As you go 
down Collins Avenue, you will pass by the Famous Joe’s Stone Crab Restaurant at the corner of Biscayne Street. Joe’s Stone Crab Restaurant is the first restaurant in Miami and was founded back in 1914. The restaurant really picked up when they added their now famous stone crab dishes to their menu.
The nightlife hotspot Ocean Drive is located nearby. Ocean Drive is home to many popular clubs and establishments one of the most famous of which is the nightclub Amnesia. For something a little different, visitors to the area can pass by the Sanford L. Ziff Jewish Museum of Florida. This was an old synagogue that was converted into a museum and was certified by the National Registry for Historic Places.
One of the most notable destinations in the area is the Art Deco District. This is also registered under the National Register of Historic Places and art lovers will definitely appreciate all of the sights in the district.
Of all the sights that can be seen in Collins Road, the beach across the road is definitely the most important tourist attraction in the area. The Travel Channel lists this beach as one of the top 10 beaches of the world.
