South Beach, or SoBe as the Miami locals fondly call it, is one of the most popular and sought after tourist hotspots in Miami. The South Beach District starts at South Pointe Park and continues all the way to Miami’s 23rd Street.

South Beach is also known for its up-scale nightclubs and bars, but also boasts several places of interest. Tourists can choose to visit museums including the Jewish Holocaust Memorial in Meridian Avenue or the Wolfsonian-FUI Museum, which is owned by the Florida International University. There are also many parks in South Beach like the Lummus Park in Ocean Drive and the Flamingo Park in Colony Hotel in MiamiJefferson Avenue.

South Beach is also home to the Art Deco District, which has one of the most extensive collections of Art Deco buildings in the world. This particular region of South Beach is extremely popular with a artists and students of architecture. Nature lovers can opt to visit the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, an expansive garden containing hundreds of different plant species including many varieties of tropical palms and exotic orchids.

One of the most popular activities that tourists enjoy in the South Beach area is a trip to the actual beach. Many tourists flock to the beach area to enjoy a swim and or spend the day sunbathing. Other activities that visitors to the beach area can enjoy include beach sports such as beach volleyball and water sports like surfing and jet skiing. There are many facilities catering to beachgoers in the area and amenities include restaurants, cafes, shower facilities, rental facilities and restrooms. The South Beach area also has several lifeguards patrolling the beach to ensure the safety of swimmers and visitors.
